Introduction

A member of the Québec Bar, I work as a teaching and research attaché at the Institut du droit de l'espace, des territoires et de la communication, at Université Toulouse 1 Capitole. I also teach at the Institut d'études politiques de Toulouse and at the Université Toulouse III – Paul Sabatier. My courses focus on communication law, sociopolitical aspects of media, culture and law, cultural mediation, cultural policies, and international economic law.

I will soon defend a doctoral thesis under the supervision of Professor Serge Regourd at Université Toulouse 1. My multidisciplinary research explores legal ways to protect national cultural measures, which are threatened by international commercial regulations. The first part of the study is dedicated to understanding cultural measures at the national level through British, Canadian, French and US comparative law. The second part focuses on the three legal mechanisms that I have identified at the international level to fulfil that aim, namely cultural exemption, cultural exception and cultural diversity.

I have previously worked as a research and teaching assistant for five years at the Faculty of Law and Criminal Sciences, at the University of Lausanne in the fields of public international law, international economic law, human rights law and Swiss constitutional law. I have also served as the executive director of a Master of Advanced Studies (LL.M.) programme in International and European Economic and Business Law at the same university. A few years earlier, I've been a teaching assistant in the Department of Information and Communication at Laval University (Québec). I was responsible of the course title “Droits et devoirs de l'information” (“Rights and freedoms of information”).

I also served as head of press at the Québec Government Office in Paris and worked for the Department of Legislative Affairs of the Ministry of Justice of Québec (Québec). I did my professional training as a lawyer at Lafleur Brown, now Gowling Lafleur Henderson (Montréal). I was also an intern at the International Affairs Department of the Ministry of Culture and Communication (Paris). Finally, I worked as a journalist at the première chaîne radio de Radio-Canada (Montréal) and at the Réseau de l'information (Montréal), in addition to contributing to various weekly, monthly and daily publications in France and Quebec.
